    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) De Europese Unie en de VS lijken dicht bij een handelsakkoord, waarbij Washington tarieven van 15 procent oplegt aan Europese importen. Dit meldden diverse bronnen die bekend zijn met de situatie woensdag aan The Financial Times.

    De overeenkomst zou vergelijkbaar zijn met de deal die de Verenigde Staten dinsdagnacht sloot met Japan.

    Brussel zou kunnen instemmen met de zogenaamde wederkerige heffingen om de dreigementen van de Amerikaanse president Donald Trump om de tarieven per 1 augustus te verhogen naar 30 procent te ontlopen, vertelden de drie bronnen aan de krant.

    De overeenkomst met Japan maakte de voorwaarden voor de 'geldklopperij' of 'chantage' duidelijk, zei een EU-diplomaat.

    "De meeste lidstaten hebben het gevoel dat ze niet anders kunnen dan deze bittere pil te slikken en dat ze met deze deal zouden kunnen leven", zeiden de bronnen.

    De Europese Commissie, die verantwoordelijk is voor het handelsbeleid van het landenblok, zou woensdag afgevaardigden van de EU-lidstaten hebben ingelicht over de gesprekken met hun Amerikaanse collega's.

    Philips sterkste stijger.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Op Wall Street zijn woensdag zeven van de acht AEX-genoteerde fondsen ten opzichte van het slot in Amsterdam hoger gesloten. Philips was met een winst van 1,5 procent de sterkste stijger. RELX sloot vlak.

    Op basis van de bovenstaande koersuitslagen zou de AEX index, die sloot op 908,15 punten, zijn geëindigd op 912,25 punten.

    Gezien koers en volume gisteravond vandaag tot nu toe tegenvallend. Maar de dag is nog lang....

    ArcelorMittal temporarily shuts down blast furnace in Poland due to import pressure

    The producer claims to have lost profitability due to cheap imported steel and high energy prices and CO2 emissions

    ArcelorMittal Poland, the country’s largest steel producer, has announced the temporary shutdown of blast furnace No. 3 at its plant in Dabrowa Górnicza. The company explains its decision by a sharp deterioration in market conditions, which make the operation of the furnace economically unjustified.

    ArcelorMittal Poland CEO Wojciech Kosuta said that the company is operating in conditions that consist of a number of negative factors: extremely high energy prices, lack of adequate protection of the European market, and costs associated with the purchase of CO2 emission allowances under the EU ETS.

    According to the Chamber of Mining and Metallurgy, imports already cover about 80% of domestic demand for steel in Poland, and up to 95% in the flat steel segment. At the same time, ArcelorMittal notes a significant increase in supplies from Ukraine and Serbia, as well as new flows from eastern countries, including Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan.

    Ik blijf met spanning wachten op een handelsakkoord tussen Canada/Mexico en de VS, dit is belangrijk voor arcelormittal.

    ben ook benieuwd als het een vrijhandelsakkoord wordt of toch één met beperkte tarieven.

    Denk wel dat arcelormittal meer in de VS zal investeren omdat hun klanten waarschijnlijk ook meer in de VS gaan produceren dan in Canada en Mexico afhankelijk welk verdrag er uit de bus komt.

    Brazilian vice president and minister of development, industry, commerce and services Geraldo Alckmin has recently come together virtually with over 130 executives from mining companies associated with the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM) to discuss the potential impact of a 50 percent US tariff on Brazilian products, including minerals, set to begin on August 1. Representing more than 85 percent of Brazil’s mineral output, the companies explored ways to mitigate trade disruptions.
    Mr. Alckmin emphasized the need for diplomatic dialogue and suggested requesting a 60–90-day delay to allow time for negotiations, noting the risks to both economies and ongoing shipments and contracts. He labeled the situation a “lose-lose” for Brazil and the US and expressed hope for a constructive resolution.

    ArcelorMittal sterkste daler.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Op Wall Street zijn donderdag twee van de acht AEX-genoteerde fondsen ten opzichte van het slot in Amsterdam hoger gesloten. ASML en Shell waren met winsten van elk 0,1 procent de enige stijgers. ArcelorMital was met een verlies van 1,1 procent de sterkste daler.

    Prijzen rebar/wire (staal voor de bouw) herstellen, ore prijzen blijven boven de $100/t.
    Vooruitzichten beter, dit zijn natuurlijk ook belangrijke zaken m.b.t. de Arcelor koers.
    Toch lijken mr. Trump’s uitspraken te overheersen, hoewel Taco!
    Gisteren Amerikaanse beurs gesloten op $33,58 dit is € 28,60, dit samen met vrijdag/laatste dag van de week lijkt op een koopje in aanloop naar de volgende week met hierin de cijfers van Arcelor en de ‘deadline’ van 1 augustus!

August contracts on the Singapore Exchange also rose 11.3% to $103.6/t.
